Theory Project

Overview

The Theory Project is an early-stage copper-gold exploration project covering approximately 10,000 hectares in BC’s Toodoggone Mining District, located within 10 km of Sun Summit’s JD Project and directly south of Thesis Gold & Silver’s Ranch Project.

Sun Summit holds an option agreement with Eagle Plains Resources Ltd. to earn up to a 100% interest in the project. The project is prospective for both epithermal gold-silver and porphyry-related copper-gold mineralization, and 2025 exploration confirmed multiple high-priority target areas, including a new high-grade copper discovery.

Location & Access

  • ~10,000 ha in BC’s Toodoggone Mining District
  • Within 10 km of Sun Summit’s JD Project
  • Borders Thesis Gold & Silver’s Ranch Project to the north
  • Helicopter-accessible; road access within 8 km of southern boundary (via Thesis Gold & Silver’s road upgrades, 2023)
  • Logistical support from Sun Summit’s JD exploration camp

Geology & Mineralization

Theory shares the same host rock as the JD Project — lower Jurassic Hazelton Group volcanics (Toodoggone Formation) unconformably overlying late Triassic Takla Group volcanics, intruded by late Triassic and early Jurassic stocks.

The property encompasses the highly prospective Triassic-Jurassic unconformity (~200 Ma), referred to by the BC Geological Survey as the “Red Line” — a contact with a strong spatial correlation to major mineral deposits across both the Golden Triangle and the Toodoggone district.

The project hosts encouraging mineralization and alteration associated with both epithermal and porphyry systems, including documented occurrences of:

  • quartz-barite veins with up to 8.2 g/t Au, 195 g/t Ag, and 6.2% Cu at the DM occurrence (BC Minfile 094E 231)*;
  • quartz carbonate vein system with up to 6.8 g/t Au and 1,480 g/t Ag at the Fred-1 occurrence (BC Minfile 094E 402)*.
  • The BEV occurrences (BC Minfile 094E 259)*, interpreted as a Cu-Au porphyry target, returned select historical rock results up to 0.47% Cu, 10.5 g/t Ag, and 0.13 g/t Au
  • Detailed soil sample results revealed a 1.6 by 2 kilometre copper-in-soil anomaly with peak soil results to 920 ppm Cu.

Key Target Areas

Saboteur Zone (New 2025 Discovery)
The Saboteur Zone is a newly identified 3 km long northeast-trending zone of copper mineralization associated with coincident magnetic and radiometric (potassic) alteration anomalies. The zone returned the most consistent high-grade copper results of the 2025 program:

  • 4.78% Cu, 0.635 g/t Au, 49 g/t Ag (LSTHR040)
  • 4.0% Cu, 0.596 g/t Au, 61 g/t Ag (JBTHR059)
  • 3.3% Cu, 4.29 g/t Au, 121 g/t Ag (MHTHR037)

BEV Zone
Detailed geological mapping at the BEV Zone defined a broad zone of multiphase hydrothermal alteration associated with copper mineralization in epidote-quartz-carbonate veins and peripheral QSP-altered gossans — consistent with the outer expression of a buried porphyry system. Soil and silt sampling defined a multi-element copper anomaly approximately 1 km x 700 m in size, open in three directions.

  • 1.44% Cu, 0.043 g/t Au, 12.8 g/t Ag (BLTHR029)

FRED-DM-DMR Zone
A zone of copper mineralization associated with NNE-trending barite veins (up to 4 m wide) exposed over a 150 m length, with strike length exceeding 1 km. The zone returned the highest individual values from the 2025 program:

  • 6.42% Cu, 0.088 g/t Au, 99 g/t Ag (BLTHR051)
  • 0.65% Cu, 12.6 g/t Au, 3,150 g/t Ag (JBTHR008)

Exploration History

2024 Program

  • Property-wide high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey
  • Identified a 13 x 13 km prospective area for integration with historical data

2025 Program

  • Data compilation and rectification of historical sampling and mapping (1986–1989)
  • Remote sensing acquisition (VNIR, SWIR, hyperspectral datasets) for alteration mapping
  • Field program: 258 rock grab samples, 417 soil samples, 40 silt samples, geological mapping and prospecting across all primary target areas
  • Petrographic analyses confirmed copper mineralization assemblages consistent with proximity to a porphyry system
  • New discovery: Saboteur Zone — 3 km trend of high-grade copper mineralization defined

2026 Exploration Program

The 2026 program is designed to advance Theory toward drill-ready status for 2027, with a focus on the BEV to Saboteur trend of copper mineralization.

Program Components

  • MobileMT Airborne Survey — Project-wide passive electromagnetic survey (~476 line-km at 250 m line spacing) to image subsurface resistivity to approximately 1–2 km depth
  • Field Program — ~30 days of geological mapping, prospecting, and rock, soil, and silt geochemical sampling on priority targets (conducted by Terralogic Exploration Inc.)
  • IP Geophysical Surveys — Up to 22 line-km of ground IP surveys on the highest-priority target areas following airborne data interpretation

An inaugural drill campaign is targeted for 2027.
